Hello to all,
My name is Adelle and I have joined the Felix & Sage Psychology team as their resident dietitian. For decades now, studies have revealed the direct link between what we eat and how we feel; the team at Felix & Sage recognise this, and have welcomed me with the intention of providing evidence-based nutrition care for their clients.
To give you some background on myself, I grew up in regional Victoria and moved to Melbourne at 18 years old to further my studies. I hold a Bachelor of Science in which I majored in nutrition; I then went on to complete a Masters of Dietetics where I am now an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD). I am also currently completing additional training with Sports Dietitians Australia to become an Accredited Sports Dietitian (this is due for completion November 2021).
As a qualified dietitian, I can work with you in improving your nutrition within a wide range of health areas. My areas of interest are general health such as fatty liver disease, heart disease, diabetes and anything related to gut-health; into more niche fields such as eating disorders, disordered eating, healing your relationship with food, sports and performance nutrition.
The nutrition space is highly saturated with opinions and anecdotal evidence everywhere you turn, especially on social media. It has even convinced so many people that carbohydrates are bad! (I assure you they aren’t, carbohydrates are essential in our diet!). Given all of this misinformation, my goal is to always improve your nutrition knowledge, improve your relationship with food, which in turn will empower you to make your own health conscious decisions to fit in with your lifestyle. I am a non-diet, weight-inclusive dietitian which means I will not judge you based on your shape, current eating patterns or lifestyle. There is enough weight stigma and shame in society, especially in our healthcare system, and I am here to reduce any fears experienced when seeking support from a health professional.
In my spare time I love keeping active and watching sports which has led me to my passion of sports nutrition. I am a high-performance dietitian at Werribee Football Club (VFL) and Geelong Netball Club (VNL) and my general responsibility is ensuring I am optimising nutrition and hydration to enhance the performance and recovery of the athletes. This doesn’t mean you have to be an elite athlete to come and have a chat with me, you may just be looking to become more active and would like to support this through your nutrition.
If you would like to know more about me, or even to have a quick chat over the phone to see whether we would be a good fit for each other, please ring reception on (03) 8813 0590 or email reception@felixandsage.com to organise a time which would suit best.
